OUR MISSION

WHY

LOVE GOD. LOVE OTHERS. SHARE LIFE.

HOW

SHAMA WOMEN SEEKS TO ENGAGE AND EQUIP AT-RISK WOMEN THROUGH VOCATIONAL + BIBLICAL TRAINING TO EXPERIENCE FREEDOM THAT COMES FROM A RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST.

Shama Women is a cooperative effort of a well established church and charity registered in South Asia which has operated a vocational and theological training school that has trained more than 400 women over the past 10 years + The Cross Connecting Network, a USA based non-profit organization.

Though we speak as a cooperative effort of two organizations, this is truly the joint work of a handful of people from the United States and South Asia, led by two couples who are learning to share life. Together this small team has experienced significant success, and know there is much more to be accomplished. Our vision is to see thousands of women living in South Asia and The United States who share life and equip and encourage one another in ways that help them discover and live out their identity and purpose in Jesus.

FAQs

OUR FAITH

Shama Women is led by people who are followers of Jesus. They believe that Jesus provides our identity and purpose so that we may live life to the fullest now and forever. We work in a culture where the vast majority is of another faith, and we respect their rights to worship as they believe. We do not coerce or entice women to believe as we do to receive training and assistance.

OUR NAME

Shama means candle. Shama Women are women who are shining a light into a dark place.

SECURITY + PROTECTION

Because of security issues, we cannot share some of the specifics of our work. Shama Women operates in a South Asian country that is often hostile to people identified as Christians. In addition, the lives of women are marginalized and some may take offense that we are assisting women in finding their identity and purpose.

DIRECTION + ACCOUNTABILITY

The board of directors of The Cross Connecting Network oversees the work of Shama Women and the work that The Cross Connecting Network does with the South Asian parent organization of Shama Women. The two organizations have a long established relationship of sharing life together and engage crucial conversations necessary to assure autonomy, credibility and accountability. Distributions of funds are fully accounted for.
